Vestibular Conditions

Vestibular disorders affect the inner ear and brain's ability to process balance and spatial orientation. Common symptoms include dizziness, vertigo, unsteadiness, and nausea, often significantly impacting daily life.

HOW WE CAN HELP

Vestibular physiotherapy can help people experiencing dizziness, vertigo, imbalance or reduced confidence with movement. Depending on the cause of your symptoms, we can help with:

  • Vertigo and dizziness

  • Balance difficulties

  • Unsteadiness when walking

  • Reduced confidence with movement

  • Motion sensitivity

  • Gaze stability

  • Falls risk

  • BPPV where appropriate

  • Returning to everyday activities

  • Gradually rebuilding confidence in more challenging environments

PHYSIOTHERAPY IN YOUR OWN ENVIRONMENT

Vestibular symptoms are often triggered by the environments and activities you encounter in everyday life.

Working with you at home and, where appropriate, in the community allows rehabilitation to progress from controlled exercises to the real situations that cause difficulty — such as stairs, busy environments, walking outdoors or turning your head while moving.

This helps ensure that treatment translates into meaningful improvements in daily life.

YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Your physiotherapist will take a detailed history of your symptoms, including when they occur, what triggers them and how they affect everyday activities.

The assessment may include balance, eye and head movement, walking and positional testing where appropriate. Following assessment, we will explain our findings and agree a personalised rehabilitation programme.
